Nicole’s Cup of Love Coffee & More was my first business name idea. After discovering another mobile coffee company with a similar name, I chose to keep imagining, allowing the vision to evolve into something uniquely my own.

During my first solo, self-guided retreat in Gualala, California, I spent four days and three nights immersed in nature. It was there—deeply connected to Mama Earth—that a fire was lit in my heart and soul, inspiring the name and logo that would follow. When I return to nature, life’s answers reveal themselves from within, reminding me that we are nature.

When I returned home from my solo retreat, I felt inspired to watercolor my logo concept. Bringing color to the design gave it life and meaning, opening the door to endless possibilities—knowing this was only the beginning, not the final draft.

I brought my hand-drawn logo into Canva, using the free online design tool to begin refining it. I selected a font I liked and traced the design using Canva’s built-in shapes and free elements. While it helped bring the idea together, I soon realized the platform’s design limitations compared to the creative freedom offered by Adobe Illustrator.

I brought my hand-drawn logo into Adobe Illustrator—having never used the program before—and worked to match the fonts I liked from Canva as closely as possible. As I learned my way through Illustrator, I smoothed out parts of the design, yet it still felt a bit too busy and in need of simplification.
